Events

As well as operating as a label, Tone List also work as a presenter of concerts for exploratory music. We run two bi-monthly series, Kinds of Light (with PS) and TuneNoiseTune (with Perth Jazz Society), and one ad hoc series, Tone List Presents. We organise launch concerts for releasing artists on our label, and regularly work with arts institutions to co-present events. Our flagship event is the annual Audible Edge Festival, which has run since 2017.

Tone List publish our upcoming events on our newsletter, and on community calendar owls.place.

Kinds of Light

Kinds of Light is a concert series for creative music at PS Art Space in Walyalup/Fremantle, curated by composer & improvising musician Josten Myburgh. Kinds of Light celebrates ambitious experimentation, careful musicianship, and sounds that are relevant to this time and place. We program across style and genre, excited by the love and rigour that goes into projects that defy categories.

Tone List presents

"Tone List presents" is our new ad-hoc program of experimental music concerts. This series was introduced in late 2023 to enable us to be more responsive to artist's whims, exciting new developments from emerging artists, and the presence of national and international visitors. It’s not fixed to one venue or approach, like our other series.

TuneNoiseTune

TuneNoiseTune is a concert series co-presented by the Perth Jazz Society and Tone List. We host avant-garde jazz, improvised music and other creative musics which take influence from these two fields. We host one concert every two months, usually at the Four5Nine bar.

TuneNoiseTune is supported by the Western Australian Government through the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, and Carl Erbrich.
