Tone List (est. 2016) is a Boorloo-based label for exploratory music.
We release albums, host concerts and workshops, present the annual Audible Edge Festival, and support adventurous musicians and listeners.
Tone List values generosity, realness, and committed practice. We strive to really hear this scene, this place, and this time, valuing and boosting the local. We challenge ourselves to be more hospitable, more accessible, and more ambitious in how we serve artists and listeners. We work to connect our scene to global developments in experimental sound.
To date, Tone List has produced over 150 concerts, including eight editions of our flagship event, the Audible Edge Festival of Exploratory Music. We have released more than 40 albums from artists with a strong connection to our scene. We have supported dozens of musicians with solidarity, advice, funding and opportunities. We look forward to a second decade of antics.
Tone List stands for a Free Palestine: for peace, for freedom from occupation and apartheid, for self-determination, the right to return for Palestinians in their homelands, and for safe, liberated expression in cultural spaces. We stand with a growing chorus of concerned citizens, international human rights and intergovernmental organisations and all who seek peace in our world. 🇵🇸
Tone List are in a slow process of building concepts of accessibility into the foundations of how we operate. We have been working with peer artist Patrick Gunasekera towards this aim.
Accessibility information is available on all of our event pages, including communication about wheelchair accessibility, lighting, sound volume & density, ventilation, crowdedness & content warnings.
Tone List endeavours to exclusively programs event in wheelchair accessible spaces. We do not use strobe lights or fast flashing lights (>5Hz) at our events.
