Composer-in-residence at Gallop House – Dr Mace Francis

  • Nedlands Library Service 60-64 Stirling Highway North Fremantle, WA, 6159 Australia (map)

Perth composer Mace Francis, a long-time advocate for big band composition and contributor to WA’s jazz scene, has been named the inaugural Western Australian 2017 Prelude Composer-in-Residence for Gallop House by the National Trust of Western Australia.

The gift of the 12-month residency provides a creative sanctuary with space and time to produce work. Gallop House is an 1870s house that has undergone a recent transformation.

Dr Francis is currently focusing on a new composition for the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra where he is the artistic director, as well as working on collaborative opportunities with local, national and international peers. Enjoy listening to Mace Francis as he opens up about his work and life at Gallop House.
