Please Join us for the opening of The Pool, by Fiona Harman and Steve Paraskos.

EXHIBITION OPENING: 6:00 - 8:00pm, Saturday 3rd June 2017
EXHIBITION RUNS: 10:00am - 5:00pm, Thursday - Sunday until 25th June.

Harman and Paraskos present a collaborative installation of sound and light projections to submerse in the atmosphere of relaxation, leisure, menace, desire and longing attached to the swimming pool in Australia. Drawing from personal fascinations and shared experiences, The Pool elevates moments of calm floating, tranquil lapping, playful splashing, even ticking kreepy-krawlies. The surreal sounds and reflections opens attention to the deluge of thoughts, feelings and associations that happen around the pool as a place of multiple experiences, both shallow and deep.

Steve Paraskos is a multi-award winning composer of film and contemporary dance and large-scale sound artist and performer, with works included as part of Proximity Festival Art Gallery of WA (2015), International Computer Music Conference (2013). National Experimental Arts Forum (2015), Totally Huge New Music Festival (2015), National Film and Sound Archive (2016), Fringe World (2017) and ABC Classic FM (2016). Currently developing sound art for the deaf in association with DAADA and large scale sound and light sculptures and performances as part of the City of Perth Winter Arts Program.

Fiona Harman is an emerging artist based in Perth, WA. Working primarily as a contemporary landscape painter, her practice explores notions of feeling and place in the built environment. Harman has held two solo exhibitions at Gallery Central (2017) and Spectrum Project Space (2015) in Perth, and has exhibited in group shows both locally and nationally, including Kings Artist Run (2016) and the Mundaring Arts Centre (2015).
